Could I Kill A Deer With .22 Super Colibris?

I have .22 super colibri rounds in a pistol. If I shot the deer through the eye with it would it kill it?|||honestly 22 lr probably has put alot more deer in the freezer than one might realize. Its proabably a poachers go to rifle for deer. If you hit a deer right a 22 can deffinitely kil it. If you know someone that hunts deer and they shoot a doe see if you can take the head of the doe to do a test to see if the 22lr will penetrate the deers skull.I think its possible it might just do it. I would try this test at no farther thatn 50 yards. I may just do this test myself as well. I wan to see what its postential is in home defense like if my girlfriend had to use 22lr on a intruder what it would do. Shooting a deer skull with skin on it would be a descent observation of this i think.

good luck|||To shoot a deer with a .22 would be illegal, inhumane and irresponsible.|||No. If you did, you'd have to be very close to even have a chance at shooting the the deer. However, by asking questions like this, the deer would hear your stupidity from a mile a way.|||no, not even a .22 magnum if put anywhere else besides the head, and in this case it would be inhumane, ruin your trophy, harder to hit in the head, and even then the deer will still probably run about 70000yards|||At 11 ft lbs of energy and 500 fps, you would have to hit it straight on thru the eye and even then, I doubt the deer would die, just be injured. The Super Colibri is basically a BB on steroids. I wonder if it would even be effective on squirrels beyond 20 yards or so.

To even attempt this would be asinine. It is cruel and disrespectful to the animal. If you want to hunt deer, do it right and legally.|||there are way too many "if's" in that question for me to say yes.

so don't even think about actually tring to kill a deer with that little pee-shooter.

but theoretically it should do the trick.|||you can kill a cow with a .22 caliber, so, you can kill a deer with a .22 caliber, but don't do it, and just because you can doesn't mean it's ethical

shooting a deer with any type of .22 is illegal anyways

you CAN kill a cow with a .22- i've seen it done before

but it has to be a head shot and VERY VERY VERY accurate for both|||If shot in the right place you COULD kill the deer. However, it is much more likely that you would injure the deer and cause needless suffering. In most places using a .22 on a deer is illegal. If it it is allowed, it is not ethical or responsible. It is just plain cruel.|||Let me put it this way: From five feet out of my Mk-II it barely went into an very old and soft cedar fence board deep enough for the bullet base to not protrude.

Given that result I doubt if even shot into the eye the bullet would make it into the cranial cavity and do lethal damage on the spot. Most likely result would be death due to infection of the wound.|||Yes it would kill it and you would go to jail for poaching. It is illegal to take a deer with a .22 except in state sanctioned and supervised predation hunts. In NM you get a 5 year sentence mandatory, they take your gun, vehicle, and it you took it home they take your house. Does that get your attention? If not you are mentally incompetent and should not be in procession of any kind of a firearm.|||Most likely, yes. I just killed two big coons with Super Colibri POWDERLESS rounds with pointed 20 grain projectiles. Both were it between the eyes from a good distance (30 or so feet away, and 25 or so feet up in a tree), and both died instantly.

Where I live, this method of taking falls within regulations, during legal fur-bearer season and "pursuit with hounds", as my dog had treed them. It's legal to use a .22 LR here on coons, and no one ever though to put anything in the regulations about powderless rounds. Besides, I have used them enough to know they work well, and shot them enough to be able to hit a nickel at 25 yards nearly 100% of the time.

However, I think we all know that this is a theoretical question...or fantasy....that you couldn't possibly be planning this. I defer back to all the people who have warned you about the illegality of this for further reference.|||.22 is not a legal caliber for hunting deer.

.22 is not a humane or ethical caliber to use for hunting deer.

is it a guarantee that it would kill the deer? no

shoot safe
