Is it possible to trace a pay as you go mobile phone?

I have been getting a lot of nuisance texts and calls from a mobile phone. I have found out that the phone is an orange pay as you go but i cant find out who keeps doing it? is there anyway i can find out who the phone belongs too...even if it is not registered? plus are any of the numerous phone sites who say they can get you the relevant information with a large fee any good/worth a try (itd be worth it if they could?|||no there is no way to trace, also it is also impossible to say that it is even an orange PAYG as the number could have been moved to another network but these sites will still show orange PAYG, also there are ways to 'spoof' the number so it could really be any number or network calling you.

also these sites promising to track down mobile numbers are just scams plain and simple.

the simplest way is just call up your network and ask them to block that number it's a 2min call at most, other options are if you have an android phone or winmo (also maybe symbian) there are several call block apps which will block the number to the same effect.|||I don't think it is possible to track down the owner of pay-as-you-go phone simply because anyone can buy as many sim cards as he wants without registering them. If you report that to police and this case will be investigated, they may have more possibilities to sort it out (f.ex. track down the debit card's owner who top up that number).

When it comes to paying for tracking the numbers down I would be very careful... First of all, all the personal details are data protected so it would be hard to get any kind of information (name, address) of your unsavoury caller - if they would manage to get them for you, they run some fishy business here... Or they just scam people (look at the payment option...debit card by any chance?). Be careful with that.

My small advice would be: call up your mobile operator and block that number.|||I doubt there is any way to trace who is using a pay as you go mobile, you don't give your name and address when you buy it, or when you activate the sim. There's no account holder as such, it's anonymous.
