When your in training for the navy are you allowed to use your mobile phone?

Ive heard that you cant use your mobile phone for the first 4 weeks is this true?|||navy training after boot and school is done on a ship or in a shore unit

cells are banned

their a great way to give up your location to the enemy

use your head|||When you go to Navy boot camp at Great Lakes you will be allowed to make 1 call when you get their from your cell. Then it gets mailed back home with all your personal items. You will have almost nocontact via phone with them untill after boot camp. Then in your A school you can have it again as long as its not in training.|||That's a flat out "NO!!!".

They literally file you into a room with other recruits and have you strip down to your underwear when you get to RTC Great Lakes. They give you a box to put everything in and they ship it home.

You're also not allowed to have cigarettes or Q-tips.

As far as being able to call home with one of their payphones, it depends on how big of a jerk your RDC is. I did boot camp in 1995 and we got to call home once, but that was only a week before we graduated. My brother told me he got to call home 2 or 3 times during boot camp.|||Well, I have a friend in the National Guard and I don't think he's ever allowed to use his own phone while he's at the base. He has a Blackberry, but he's only allowed to use that strictly calls from the Guard.|||No. If you take it with you to SRT it will come home in The Box http://navydads.blogspot.com/2009/01/box鈥?/a>

Search the above site for 21, boot camp, PIR, and look down the right column for links under Seaman Recruit Training.|||yeah the first few weeks at boot camp are the "hell weeks" so there is no freedoms or nothing else, you will be able to call home and stuff but from a pay phone.|||while in boot camp no, after bootcamp u are free to use you're cell phone as you like
