Why does Orange mobile phone company not tell its customers when it has a major fault?

Why does Orange Mobile Phone Company not tell its customers when a "cell" is not working and we don't know when it will be fixed. The web site does not let you know. I think it is irresponsible of them. Its 2 days now without coverage in my area! Shocking.|||It's not really viable to proactively tell customers in a cell when it is down as people are using mobile phones and will move around and into different cells.

If you call customer services and report a coverage issue they should be able to check the masts in your area. Orange should also know when there is a problem with a mast before any customers call in.

One thing to note is that masts often cannot be fixed immediately for reasons outside Orange's control. Examples would be: Power cables or fibre cables cut by a third party, vandalisim or fire where the police have become involved. Pirate radio stations and "Travellers" on the site. It may not be down to Orange at all.

However, I think you'll find all phone networks including the landline ones are the same. They are not legally obliged to tell you of an issue.|||how can they if your phone doesent work how will they contact you lol|||they only tell if you call them and ask about it.... it happened to me sometime ago.|||It is an interesting question - indeed within last two weeks I have myself been experiencing problems with connection on Orange in different places around London. It is quite often that it breaks and I have to redial, there is a lack of coverage in places which should normaly have it. Also in the Isle of Dogs the coverage has been deteriorating over last months.|||When a site goes down, Orange is made aware by a system their use, when customers report the problem to customer services. They have to wait for Updates on that system to advise further. Usually their will be expected up time on the mast, but they would have to wait on the engineers.

Other then that they can send a action to their TS department or IT department to see if their is any further updates. But it is a case on waiting others to find out, which is the same with any mobile network.

I wouldn't know exactly the reason why they don't tell its customers, maybe of the amount of of customers in that area it could be impossible to let everyone know. Plus if it is only one bts site, Your mobile should auto log on to another. Try a manual network selection to see if that works. Also try your Sim in another Orange phone if you can, to see if it is not your phone having trouble logging on to the network, or speak to other orange customers in your area to see if they are having any trouble.

But the thing is with any mobile network, they cannot guarantee 100% service because things go wrong. Vandalism the weather.|||why , do any of them tell
